I have a secret to share with you. It’s something that a lot of people don’t know about. Fortunately, I’m one of the few that has been made privy to this information. To be honest, I’m a little hesitant to even share this secret, but I figure it’s something you, our loyal reader, would want to know so here goes:
The probability of you reaching your fitness goals has very little to do with the type of diet and training routine you follow, or the kind of supplements you take.
Seems crazy, doesn’t it?
Especially considering that in previous articles we explained in detail why setting up a proper diet and training program is absolutely essential for making significant progress in the gym. Sounds like we are giving contradictory advice, but allow me to explain.
The fact is that the type of diet and training routine you follow doesn’t matter that much. It’s important, but not as much as most people believe, and certainly not as much as some charlatans or snake oil salesman would try to have you believe.
So if the type of diet and training routine you follow doesn’t really matter, then what DOES matter?
These are the things that matter. Interestingly, these are also the things that you cannot buy in a pill or potion. They are also not things that can be accounted for in any diet and training program, no matter how good it is.
The bottom line is this: a bad plan well executed is better than a great plan poorly executed.
It’s no good if you have the greatest diet and training program in the world but your effort and consistency is lousy. A guy who may not have the best program in the world would blow you away as long as he put in the right amount of effort and consistency.
That’s why at Well Built Style we take a very no nonsense approach to style and fitness. We’re not here to blow smoke up your ass and try to sell you the latest and greatest anything. We are here to provide you with quality information in the hopes that you will put it to good use.
Of course, the amount of effort you put into something is a very hard thing to quantify. It is really only something that YOU can determine. We provide the quality advice, you take the massive action. That’s how it works.
So with that said, I wanted to end this brief article with excellent video to motivate you guys to work harder in the gym. The following video is of Ray Lewis – a former NFL linebacker – talking about the one thing that separated him from everyone else: effort. For those of you who are not aware, Ray Lewis was known for insane work ethic on and off the field. I’ll allow him to elaborate:
Put in the work and reap the rewards. It really is that simple.
