Having good style is more than just about what you wear. It’s also about what you carry, too.
Unfortunately, few men give much thought to the type of bag they carry, whether it is to work, to the gym, or while travelling.
In fact, it’s not uncommon for me to see guys wearing nylon backpacks to work:
Talk about a terrible look!
It’s not that I have anything against backpacks, they definitely have their place. It’s just that there are so many better options out there.
For example, for the past several years I’ve been carrying a Herschel weekender to work:
It seems like a big bag to be lugging around to work (and for most people it probably is), but for me it’s an ideal size as I need to carry all of my gym gear along with my work related stuff.
The bag also doubles really well for me as a travel bag for short excursions. I mean it is a weekender after all.
Suffice it to say that this bag has been incredibly versatile for me and something that I carry with me almost every day.
However, as much as I love my Herschel weekender, I recently decided that it was time for an upgrade.
I knew I wanted another weekender (since the Herschel worked out so well for me), but I wanted something a little more polished and sophisticated.
There are a ton of quality weekenders on the market and I looked at a bunch of them before settling on the Trafford Weekender from United By Blue:
The Trafford Weekender is a great travel bag that it also works well as an everyday bag – my ideal type of bag.
The bag is made from waxed organic cotton canvas and vegetable tanned leather but what I love most is that the hardware is made from brass. This makes the bag incredibly durable. I don’t expect the zipper to burst on me any time soon.
The bag has one exterior zip pocket, one interior zip pocket, and two interior drop pockets. What it lacks, however, is a special compartment for shoes. It’s something that I enjoyed about the Herschel but I can easily get over.
The Trafford comes in three standard colors, navy, moss, and tan. I went with the moss as it’s a colour that works really well with the rest of my wardrobe.
The Trafford retails for a very reasonable $168 US. Honestly, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better bag at that price point. United By Blue also offers a lifetime guarantee which covers all production defects and failure of materials.
Lastly, what I love about United By Blue is that for each product they sell they pull 1lb of trash from the world’s oceans and waterways.
A quality bag is great way to separate yourself from the average guy. The reality is that very few men care about how the dress and even fewer care about the type of bag they carry.
United By Blue is one of many companies making great bags. I highly recommend you check them out if you interested upgrading what you carry. You won’t be disappointed.
Here’s to looking sharp!
